Most of us spend our lives building something—our careers, our families, our finances, or our future. Those things matter, but Jesus reminds us that the strength of our lives depends on something deeper than what others can see. The storms of life don't create our foundation; they reveal it. This week, we'll explore what it means to build our lives on Jesus, the only foundation that truly lasts.

Opening Prayer

Father, thank You for bringing us together today. Give us honest hearts as we reflect on Your Word. Help us encourage one another and show us where You're inviting us to trust You more. Amen.

Conversation Starters

Option A (Light)

If you were building your dream home, what's one feature you couldn't live without?

Option B (Deeper)

Has there ever been a season that completely changed your perspective on what really matters in life?

Scripture

Luke 6:46–49 (NIV)

Ephesians 2:19–22 (NIV)

Discussion Questions

What stood out to you most from this week's message?

Why do you think Jesus compares our lives to building a house?

What kinds of "cracks" can begin to show when our foundation isn't centered on Christ?

Why is it sometimes easier to focus on outward success than what's happening in our hearts?

The sermon used the Leaning Tower of Pisa as an illustration. What are some ways people try to compensate for an unhealthy foundation instead of addressing the root issue?

How does seeing Jesus as the cornerstone change the way we make everyday decisions?

Real Life Application

Take a few moments to reflect on your own life.

Where do you feel the most secure right now?

Where do you feel the most unstable?

Is there an area where you've been asking Jesus to fit into your plans instead of allowing Him to shape them?

What's one practical habit you could begin this week to build your relationship with Jesus? It could be spending time in Scripture each morning, setting aside time for prayer, or reaching out to someone who encourages your faith.

Closing Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for being the firm foundation we can always trust. Reveal the places where we've been relying on ourselves instead of You. Give us the courage to build every part of our lives on Your truth, and continue shaping us into people who reflect Your love each day. Amen.

Next Steps

Take some time this week to read Luke 6:46–49 again and ask God to reveal any areas where your foundation needs strengthening.

If you're not connected to a group yet, we'd love to help you find community.
