It’s easy to focus on appearances. We can look productive, successful, busy, or even spiritual on the outside while feeling disconnected on the inside.
But Jesus says our fruit reveals our root.
In John 15, Jesus describes Himself as the true vine and us as the branches. Healthy fruit doesn’t come from trying harder—it comes from staying connected to Him. The kind of life growing out of us reveals what we’re truly connected to.
This conversation is about slowing down long enough to honestly ask:
What is shaping my life right now?
Opening Prayer
God, thank You for bringing us together tonight.
Help us be honest about what’s really going on beneath the surface of our lives.
Show us where we’ve been disconnected from You and teach us how to stay close to You. Amen.
Conversation Starters
Option A (Light):
What’s something you’ve tried to grow before—plants, a garden, a hobby, or even a skill?
Option B (Deeper):
What’s something in your life that tends to drain you instead of fill you up?
Scripture
John 15:4–5 (CSB)
“Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.”
Galatians 5:22–23 (CSB)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.”

Closing Prayer
Jesus, thank You for being the true vine.
We confess that we often try to find fulfillment in things that can’t truly satisfy us.
Help us stay connected to You this week so that our lives reflect Your love, peace, and grace to the people around us. Amen.
Next Steps
Don’t let this just stay a conversation for tonight.
Take time this week to slow down and pay attention to the fruit your life is producing.
And if you’re looking for community or a place to grow, we’d love for you to join us Sunday as we continue following Jesus together here in Tallahassee.
