Day 1 — The First Decision

Scripture

Luke 9:23

Also See: Matthew 6:33

Reflection

Every day begins with a choice. Before our schedules fill up or distractions take over, we're invited to decide who will lead our lives. Jesus calls us to follow Him daily, not just when it's convenient or easy.

Following Jesus isn't about perfection. It's about choosing, one day at a time, to trust Him with whatever lies ahead.

Questions

What usually shapes the direction of my day?

Day 1 — Start with the Foundation

Scripture

Luke 6:47–48 (NIV)Psalm 127:1 (NIV)

Reflection

Every building begins with a foundation, even though it's the part no one sees. Jesus teaches that a life built on His words can withstand the storms that inevitably come. Psalm 127 reminds us that our efforts alone are never enough. Lasting strength comes from building with God, not simply working harder.

What is my life most firmly built on?

Every day presents the same question: Will I focus on myself, or will I look for ways to serve others?

Jesus didn't just teach about serving. He lived it. These next five days will help us examine our hearts, notice the needs around us, and take practical steps toward becoming more like Him.

Day 1 — The Question Behind Every Day

Scripture

Matthew 20:28 (NIV)

"Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Day 1 — Pruning Isn’t Rejection

Scripture

John 15:1–2 Hebrews 12:10–11 Isaiah 43:2

Reflection

Pruning can feel uncomfortable. Sometimes God removes distractions, habits, or even seasons we’ve grown attached to, and it’s easy to mistake that for distance or punishment.

But Jesus says the Father prunes the branches He cares about. Pruning isn’t rejection—it’s preparation for growth. God cuts away what keeps us from becoming who He created us to be.

Abundant Life Starts With Surrender

by: Kris Stowers

Jesus said, “I am the door.”

That may sound strange at first. We usually think of Jesus as a teacher, healer, Savior, or shepherd. But in John 10, Jesus describes himself as the door for the sheep. He is the way into safety, provision, freedom, and life.

And then he says this:

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10

Abundant life does not begin when we finally get everything under control. It begin

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”

Day 1

What are you still hiding from God?

Sometimes it doesn’t feel like hiding. It feels like being tired. Like just getting through the week. But underneath the surface, something is shifting. Our hearts can slowly harden without us even noticing.

Scripture:John 8:12 — “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”Psalm 27:1 — “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?”

Prayer:God, I don’t want t

Day 1 — What Are You Really Feeding?

Scripture

John 6:27 (NIV) "Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

Matthew 4:4 (NIV) "Jesus answered, 'It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

Reflection

Day 1 — When God Feels Quiet

Scripture

John 11:6 (NIV)

"So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days."

Reflection

Jesus loved them… so He stayed where He was. That’s hard to understand. We expect love to move quickly, but sometimes God’s love looks like waiting. His silence isn’t absence—it may be something deeper at work.

Questions

Where in my life does God feel quiet right now? What assumptions am I making about His silence? How do I usually respon...

Why Can't I Let This Go?

by: Kris Stowers

Day 1 — Why Can't I Let This Go?

Scripture: Luke 23:34 Also See: Ephesians 4:31–32

Jesus forgave in the middle of pain—not after it was over. No apology. No acknowledgment. No change in behavior. Just forgiveness.

That’s what makes this so hard. We keep waiting for the moment when it feels right to let go—but that moment doesn’t always come.

Sometimes the reason you can’t let it go… is because you’re still waiting for something you may never receive.

How Do I Move Forward From My Past?

DAY 1 — SEE THE TRUTH

SCRIPTURE

2 Corinthians 5:17

What Has My Heart?

by: John Kimber

03/01/2026

Day 1 — What Has My Heart?

Scripture: Matthew 6:21Also See: Psalm 139:23–24

Jesus makes it simple and direct—your heart follows what you treasure. Not what you say matters. Not what you intend. What you actually hold onto.

That can be uncomfortable to admit. Because sometimes what has our heart isn’t bad—it’s just become ultimate. And anything that becomes ultimate starts to shape everything.

Questions:

In Matthew 6:21, what does Jesus say reveals what has my heart? What do I th...
