We’re consistent with what we eat. We plan for it, make time for it, and feel it when we skip it. But when it comes to our relationship with God, it’s easy to go days—sometimes longer—without noticing something’s off.

That’s exactly what Jesus addresses in John 6.

The crowd had just experienced a miracle. Thousands of people fed from almost nothing. But instead of seeing who Jesus was, they focused on what they could get from Him.

Another meal. Another benefit. Another solution to their immediate needs.

And Jesus shifts the conversation.

“Do not work for food that spoils… but for food that endures to eternal life.”

He’s getting at something deeper:
You are always feeding something.

Your schedule
Your attention
Your thoughts
Your energy

The question is—what’s getting fed the most?

Because it’s possible to be physically full and spiritually empty.

That’s the tension.

We don’t ignore God on purpose. We just keep filling up on everything else—distractions, responsibilities, entertainment, stress. And over time, we lose our hunger for what actually gives life.

Jesus doesn’t offer Himself as a side option.

“I am the bread of life… whoever comes to me will never go hungry.”

He’s saying: I’m the source.

Not a supplement. Not a once-a-week add-on.
Daily sustenance.

Some people walked away when that became clear. It was too much. Too personal. Too demanding of their priorities.

But Peter’s response cuts through everything:

“Where else would we go? You have the words of life.”

That’s the invitation in front of us.

Not just to believe in Jesus—but to come to Him daily.
To actually make space.
To feed on something that lasts.

Because you don’t drift into a healthy spiritual life.
You choose what you feed.

If this stirred something in you, don’t ignore it.
